Morattico festivities to include community parade and picnic July 4

LANCASTER—The Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, recently announced plans for its annual community Independence Day celebration.

The event, Saturday, July 4, will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the country, reported Trish Pohanka.

Activities will include a golf cart parade and picnic.

Participants will lineup at 10:30 a.m. at 5863 Morattico Road. Everyone is reminded to decorate their entries in the spirit of the celebration. For parade participation, contact John Henry 794-0704, or johnhenrytaylor0746@gmail.com.

A picnic will follow the parade at the museum pavilion, rain or shine. the menu will feature grilled hot dogs, barbecue sliders, chips and drinks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Those planning to attend the picnic are urged to contact Pohanka, 773-497-5116, or tpohanka60@gmail.com.

There will be children’s games, weather permitting.

The community is reminded to check out the new retail items at the museum, thanks to the artistic talent of photographer Kim Gittman and Christane Cockrell from Tiles Project.
