MIDDLESEX––Folks are invited to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in Urbanna on Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4, with live music from three bands, family fun, and community spirit in the town’s Taber Park at 425 Bonner St. in Urbanna.
Urbanna’s 250th Independence Day Celebration begins on Friday, July 3, at 6 p.m. with the Army’s 29th Division Band performing a one-hour set that includes the concert band, fife and drum, and jazz band. The concert is free to the public.
The good times continue in Urbanna on Saturday, July 4, again in Taber Park, with a patriotic bicycle rally. Bikes decorated in patriotic themes will assemble at 10 a.m. then pedal around the park for all to see.
There will be free face painting for children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Artfully Yours Face Painting.
Rockin’
Free live music fills the afternoon beginning with Ray Pittman’s Rock and Blues Band from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. At 5 p.m., the band Sweet Justice takes the stage and performs until 8 p.m.
Bring a cooler and chairs. IDs will be checked at the gate.
- Taber Park’s Marshall Community Pool will be open and guest passes will be on sale.
- Food trucks will sell a variety of food and refreshments.
- Residences and businesses will show their patriotic spirit in the town-wide decorating contest.
- A golf cart rally is also planned with the time and date to be determined.
- A pie eating contest in Taber Park. The time will be announced later.
