LANCASTER—It’s time to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in true river style with the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) Patriotic Boat Parade on Carter Creek, Friday, July 3.
“Kick off your Fourth of July weekend with a floating celebration of red, white and blue! Whether you’ve got a yacht, a skiff, a sailboat, a kayak, a paddleboard, or anything that floats—all boats are welcome. Power, sail, electric, or paddled—deck it out, fly your flags, use your imagination and show your American spirit,” said Ed Peake.
The party will keep rolling beyond the parade with Band on the Barge. Sponsored by Rappahannock River Yacht Club and H&G Marine, the Crain Brothers Band will rock Carter Creek from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from a barge anchored near the RRYC docks.
For the parade, there is no registration and no entry fee. Boats will gather on the eastern branch of Carter Creek near Custom Yacht Service and the parade will begin at 2 p.m., follow the lead boat past the RRYC docks and up to Tides Inn then back to RRYC. Complete details may be found at RRYC.org.
Everyone is invited to anchor their boats in the vicinity of the RRYC docks and enjoy the free concert, said Peake.
