Lace up for the 2026 Deltaville 5K

MIDDLESEX––The tradition continues! The annual Deltaville 5K is returning on Saturday, July 4, promising its signature mix of community spirit, flat-and-fast racing, and an upgraded lineup of U.S. semiquincentennial-themed festivities.

Whether you are a competitive runner looking for a personal record or a family wanting to kick off Independence Day with a scenic walk, this year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest one yet. The event starts near the Deltaville Community Association (DCA) building at 17147 General Puller Highway. To beat the summer heat, the event kicks off early with the Fun Run starting at 7:15 a.m. and the 5K immediately following at 7:30 a.m.

What’s new for 2026

While the race routes remain the same, organizers are introducing fantastic new highlights to celebrate the 16th annual run:

  • A Historic Spectacle — Look out toward the water! The magnificent sloop “Luna” will be making a special race day appearance, adding a stunning, historic backdrop to the morning’s events and honoring Deltaville’s deep maritime roots.
  • Post-Race Eats — Fuel up after crossing the finish line! The Mouth of the South food truck will be parked onsite, serving up incredible local flavor for runners and spectators alike.
  • Kid-Favorite Activities — Back by popular demand, the legendary crab races continue to be a massive hit for children, keeping the little ones entertained and cheering all morning long.

Race details and amenities

The Kids Fun Run is open to children ages 12 and younger, while the 5K welcomes participants of all ages.

Other details include:

  • The Course — Flat and fast, featuring the scenic, fan-favorite turnaround on the state dock over Jackson Creek.
  • Perks and Awards — Registration for both events includes a finisher’s medal and a commemorative T-shirt featuring a design celebrating local maritime heritage. Men’s and women’s awards will be given for overall placement and within every 10-year age bracket.
  • Childcare — Peace of mind for running parents! The Middlesex Family YMCA will once again graciously provide childcare during the 5k.

Make a day of it

Race organizers are encouraging families to stay for a full day of classic Americana — making Deltaville the ultimate place to be for the entire holiday. Spend your afternoon grabbing lunch from local spots, hitting the water, or exploring the town’s unique coastal shops. As the sun begins to set, head over to the ballpark for a classic evening watching the Deltaville Deltas baseball game.

Finally, cap off the perfect Fourth of July at night with an outstanding fireworks event immediately following the game.
