After nearly 10 years away, RivahFest is back—and it’s bolder, louder and more fun than ever.
From 11 a.m.-8 p.m. May 23, downtown Tappahannock will transform into a celebration packed with music, family activities, vendors and a special nod to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The festival will weave history into the excitement with demonstrations and reenactments.
“People in this community have been asking for RivahFest to come back for years,” said organizer Erin Kelley. “The demand never went away—it only grew. To bring it back now—as we usher in the summer of 250—makes this year’s festival even more meaningful for Tappahannock.”
The festival will offer:
- Food trucks
- The return of RivahFest Idol
- Touch-A-Truck
- Crab races
- Pony and carnival-style rides
- An exotic educational animal show
- Puppet shows—The Death of Blackbeard and The Boston Tea Party—presented by Shades of Our Past.
- A rock climbing wall
- Mini golf
- Arts & crafts vendors
- A splash pad
Musical performances by Grayson Torrence, a former RivahFest Idol winner and American Idol contestant; Skilly, delivering a mix of folk music with colonial flair; Soul Expressions Band and Full Moon Fever RVA, a tribute to Tom Petty.
Admission is free, and the event is designed for all ages.
