Blue Crab Arts and Crafts Festival moves to new time, seeks exhibitors

Vendors offer goodies at a previous Blue Crab Arts and Crafts Festival in Hartfield.

MIDDLESEX––The fourth annual Blue Crab Arts and Crafts Festival will take place May 23 and 24 in Hartfield on the grounds of the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club at 1860 Twiggs Ferry Road. The festival features original, handcrafted works of art with an emphasis on quality craftsmanship.  Festival planners are looking for artists and craftsmen who are interested in sharing their creativity with the local community.

The festival is “made in the shade” and all vendors are located in a shady, well-manicured pine grove. Vendor spots cost $70. The cost is discounted to $35 for not-for-profit organizations and vendors specializing in children’s activities can set up for free.

To reserve a spot in the festival reply to Festival Coordinator Macey White at MaceyWhite@gmail.com.

More than 3,000 attendees are expected with more than 100 vendors. This is a new weekend. In the past, the festival was presented on the Fourth of July weekend. It has moved to a cooler time, Memorial Day weekend.

The host of this festival, the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club, is described by club reps as “the largest croquet facility in the world.” The club wants to share its facility and its fun-loving activities with everyone in the community.

There will be activities for people of all ages. Activities include live music, food, a beer/wine garden, free croquet lessons and games, free lawn bowling lessons and games, a professionally run shooting gallery at the range next door and shopping for unique and interesting items at our vendor’s booths.

There is no fee to attend or park. If family is coming to town for Memorial Day, this will make a great outing. The vendors, music, and beer/wine garden are in the shade, under a large and beautiful pine tree stand. The festival starts at 10 a.m. each day and ends at 4 p.m.
