TAPPAHANNOCK, VA — The Tappahannock Artists Guild (TAG) invites artists, makers, neighbors, students, families, and community members of all experience levels to take part in Squares for the Cure, a community-wide art and fundraising project opening at TAG on August 28, 2026.
The Squares for the Cure Show is a collaborative exhibition built around a simple and joyful idea: community members donate original works of art, each measuring just 6 x 6 inches. The artworks will be displayed anonymously in the TAG gallery, and visitors will be invited to purchase any piece for a flat price of $25. Buyers choose based on what speaks to them and discover the artist’s identity only after purchase.
This year’s exhibition is being created in partnership with Be the Cure, a local community initiative supporting critical health services in the region. Proceeds from show sales will be divided among Be the Cure beneficiaries:
- The Greater Richmond Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association
- The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation
- The Ledwith-Lewis Free Clinic
Beginning July 17, TAG will offer a 6 x 6 creation station at the gallery during regular TAG hours, Thursday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The station will include small canvases and art supplies for anyone who would like to create a piece for inclusion in the Squares for the Cure show and sale.
A $5 suggested donation helps cover the cost of supplies, but the donation is waived for anyone who donates their completed piece to the show.
Community members may also create 6 x 6 artworks on their own and donate them to TAG for inclusion in the exhibition. All styles and skill levels are welcome, and participants do not need to consider themselves professional artists to take part.
The Squares for the Cure Show will be on view at TAG from August 28 through September 19, 2026.
While TAG’s primary invitation is to individual community members, organizations interested in hosting or coordinating group participation are welcome to contact TAG to explore possibilities.
