The Middlesex County Sports Complex Commission (MCSCC) has completed a $33,380 upgrade of its complex’s playground. The sports complex is located beside St. Clare Walker Middle School in Locust Hill and a ribbon cutting was conducted on Monday, Jan. 12, to announce the opening.

The playground is located between ballfields on the complex and is actively used by young children in families who attend the older age activities at the complex.

The complex is used by Middlesex Little League, Middlesex Family YMCA, Middlesex Parks and Recreation Department, etc., who all use the complex to offer organized youth sports to the community

“We have a lot of families with younger children who want something more to do at the complex than just watch the games,” said MCSCC board member Jackie Taylor. “The upgrading of the playground is an effort by the commission to provide activities for all ages of children who come to the complex.”

All of the funds to pay for playground improvements were provided through donated funds. “Most of the funding came from money earned through our annual golf tournament and our recent E-bike raffle,” said Taylor.

The commission extended a special thank you to Brandon Putney with Affordable Lawn Care for generously providing the demolition and site preparation work necessary for the installation of the new playground.

“Brandon’s contribution played a vital role in the successful completion of the project and enhanced safety, accessibility, and enjoyment for children and families throughout the community,” said Taylor.

At the ribbon cutting, Middlesex County Board of Supervisors Chairman Don Harris said the work of the commission is an excellent example of a public/private partnership that provides an enormous service to the county and very little cost to county taxpayers.
