Yorktown Wine & Oyster Festival slated October 4-5

YORKTOWN—The Yorktown Wine & Oyster Festival will be held from noon-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5 at Riverwalk Landing, 425 Water Street, Yorktown.

This two-day ticketed event pairs Virginia’s finest wines with fresh oysters, served raw, roasted, or steamed.

Guests can sip, sample and stroll along the Yorktown waterfront while enjoying music, food trucks, regional artists and educational exhibits.

Tickets are required for entry and wine tastings. One-day tickets are $50 per person, two-day tickets, $85, and non-drinking, $20. Purchase advance tickets at visityorktown.org.

Nearly 20 local wineries and distilleries will provide samples of their signature blends, offering irresistible pairings with oysters and other seafood favorites. This event also will feature a Virginia craft beer garden.

Music performances on Saturday will include The Fifes and Drums of York Town at noon, Against All Odds, 12:30-3 p.m., and Brass Wind, 3:30-6p.m.; and on Sunday, The Michael Clark Band, 12:30-3 p.m., and Skylark, 3:30-6 p.m.

Educational booths will include the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, the Virginia Oyster Trail and the Watermen’s Museum.

Food trucks will include Coastal Thirst, Dong’s Food Truck, Hungry Hungry Arrow, Kathi’s Clam Chowder, On the Flipside Food Truck, Salty Bob’s Seafood, Spud Brothers and Vogt Oyster Company.

Other activities include a free create-your-own oyster ornament from 1-3 p.m. while supplies last. An Oyster Shuck Off will feature local chefs in competition.

Add-ons Saturday will include an enhanced wine tasting for 1-5 p.m., $20 per person, and Sunday, 2-5 p.m., as well as Boats & Bordeaux, a sip-and paint workshop from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the Freight Shed, $35 per person.

The free Yorktown Trolley will run until 5 p.m. during both days of this event.
