The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, requests your presence at “With This Ring”—a display of vintage wedding gowns and accessories on view in the Walker House May 29-June 29.
About half a dozen vintage gowns, plus bridal portraits, bouquets, invitations, a wedding cake, classic floral arrangements and other memorabilia, will be on display throughout the home. The Walker House, built in 1875, is the oldest house standing in Reedville and was the original home of the museum. Since 1990, it has been decorated as a typical family home of a working waterman of the early 20th century.
The late Marguerite Walker, the last member of the family to live in the house, was a seamstress and fitted wedding gowns for the area’s young women back in the day.
Museum hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Admission, which includes the Walker House and all other inside and outside exhibits, is $10 adults, $5 seniors and veterans, and free for ages 16 and younger as well as active military members.
