Virginia State Parks offer summer concerts

LANCASTER—Several Virginia State Parks will offer concerts this summer through the fall that will include bluegrass, jazz, gospel, country, rock and roll, symphony and contemporary music. Each location has a variety of music throughout the year so there is something that everyone can enjoy.

Concerts are planned at Belle Isle State Park and Westmoreland State Park.

Music by the River at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster, will feature concerts from 6-8 p.m. on second and third Saturdays, June through August.

Music by the River at Belle Isle State Park lineup:

  • June 8: Big City Band
  • June 15: Black Cat Murphy
  • July 13: Faron Hamblin
  • July 20: Rappahannock Crossing Bluegrass Band
  • August 10: Karen Jonas Band
  • August 17: Southern Grace

The series is made possible by the sponsorship of local businesses, community organizations, foundations and Friends of Belle Isle State Park.

“We’ve scheduled a variety of programs again this season,” said Friends of Belle Isle State Park music committee co-chairman Robert Mason Jr. “Get ready for some foot stomping and fancy dancing!”
