Summer paddles on the Dragon Run set for July 15-26

MIDDLESEX––Friends of Dragon Run (FODR) welcomes guests to participate in guided paddle trips on the most beautiful river/swamp in Virginia.

The organization is dedicated to preserving the Dragon Run which flows through Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. They host paddle trips to educate the public and to raise funds to protect land along the Dragon Run.

In the summer, the Dragon Run swamp is particularly beautiful with flowers, especially the pickerelweed, spatterdock, buttonbush and swamp rose. Though the air may be hot, the water is cool and the paddles are fun.

This summer FODR is planning to launch from a new location on the Dragon, downstream from the Teta Kain Nature Preserve (Route 603).

Paddle trips are daily July 15 -26 and registration is open. Persons 18 and older are welcome A $60 donation is requested.

Each kayak trip is led by a nature guide. No prior paddle experience is required and FODR provides all of the equipment needed.
