RRYC plans to hold Halloween Spooktacular lighted boat parade on October 17

LANCASTER—The Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) on October 17 will present Halloween Spooktacular, a lighted boat parade.

Beginning shortly after sundown, the parade will take place on Carter Creek beginning near Custom Yachts. Boats will cruise past the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) docks where judging will take place, reported vice commodore Glenn Solt.

From there they will proceed up the creek to the Tides Inn. Skippers will be safely guided along the route in the dark by RRYC club boats. Boats will be judged in a variety of categories with prizes to be awarded during an afterparty in the RRYC clubhouse.

Participation is not limited RRYC members, said Solt. The public is invited and welcome to participate in the parade and to come watch the parade rom RRYC docks at 100 Rappahannock Road, Irvington. All parade participants are also welcome and encouraged to attend the Halloween Spooktacular afterparty full of fun, food and prizes for winning boats.

Skippers are urged to use their imagination and turn their boats, sail, power, electric Duffy, and yes even steam powered, into their best interpretation of Halloween. And remember, there’s no such thing as too many lights, he said.

RRYC will be open for parade viewing beginning at 6:30 pm. Everyone’s welcome, especially children (costumes appreciated) with adult supervision to come and enjoy hot cider and treats while watching the spectacular display of brightly illuminated Halloween-themed boats pass by while cheering for crowd favorites. The parade also can be viewed from any public or private access points along the parade route.

Participation in the parade and the after party is free, compliments of RRYC as is the public’s welcome to club grounds and docks for viewing. However, registration for the parade and after party is necessary for planning purposes. Find complete details and register at rryc.org.
