Rivah Wine & Whiskers gala slated Sept. 4

LANCASTER—Garfield’s Rescue Inc. (GRI) will hold the fourth annual Wine & Whiskers gala, a benefit evening of wine, music, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, from 5-7:30 p.m. September 4 at Trinity Episcopal Church Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster.

Guests can support GRI’s lifesaving homeless cat rescue mission while enjoying festivities that include specially curated wines; hors d’oeuvres provided and served by D. Goodman Catering; the spinning of tunes for the evening by Paragon DJs; and a slideshow. A 50/50 raffle winner will be chosen at the end of the evening.

Event chairman Karen Peterson reported on the “tremendous support” of businesses, individuals and talented artisans that have donated silent auction items and sponsorship support. Many donors have a special cat or two in their lives and were eager to help support GRI’s vision.

Auction items include a two hour sunset sailboat cruise for up to six guests, a $525 value; a private piano concert for up to 25 people in the home of composer and pianist, Joel Hoffman, a $1500 value; tickets to the Richmond Ballet’s Nutcracker, a $192 value; original art works, and over-flowing themed baskets containing special entertainment for families, or that appeal to aficionados of regional fine dining, health and beauty, sports, fitness and clothing.

Gala tickets are $60. Tickets are available in advance at Bayside Animal Hospital, 78 Whisk Drive, White Stone; Rappahannock Art League, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock; Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville; and  www.garfieldsrescuecharity.com. Patrons must be at least age 21 to purchase tickets.
