Registration is underway for 17th Dream Fields Spanish Mackerel Fishing Tournament

LANCASTER—Registration is underway for the 17th annual Dream Fields Spanish Mackerel Fishing Tournament July 26.

“The tournament is two weeks earlier this year,” said director Amy Forrester. “So we need to get the word out to register now.”

Registration is $200. To register, visit dreamfields.org or the tournament Facebook page, Dream Fields Fishing Tournament. Entries and checks can be made payable to YCLC, c/o Amy Forrester, PO Box 44, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.

Some $5,400 in cash prizes will be awarded including a $2,500 first prize, $1,000 second prize, $750 third prize, $500 fourth prize and $250 fifth prize. Junior, lady and special angler prizes of $200 also will be awarded. A $25,000 award sponsored by Blue Ridge Bank also will be awarded to any angler breaking the state Spanish mackerel record.

A captain’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on July 25 at Dream Fields in Weems. A Calcutta also will be offered at the captain’s meeting.

Chesapeake Boat Basin on Indian Creek will serve as the weigh-in station. The tournament is sponsored by Chesapeake Boat Basin and Gilman Heating, Cooling and Plumbing. Proceeds will benefit Lancaster County Little League and Dream Fields.
