Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show will return to White Stone March 18-20

Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show Artist of the Year Wayne Martin displays the show print that will be distributed at the show. Martin is joined by Cindy Clarke, Robert Booth and Tim Booth of W. F. Booth and Son, Inc., show print sponsors.

After a two-year hiatus, the 41st Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show will be held  March 18-20 at the White Stone Firehouse, 579 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.

Wildfowl art is the theme of the show featuring original paintings, decorative wildfowl carvings, bronze sculpture, folk art carvings, gunning style decoys, photography and prints, reported organizer Pat Bruce.

A Preview Night Gala will be held Friday, March 18. Those not already on the mailing who would like to attend are urged to visit www.rrws.org, e-mail patbruce@rrws.org, or call 787-3119. Remember to give name and mailing address. Preview Night Gala tickets are $70 per person. Gala tickets must be reserved by March 11.

The Artist of the Year is Wayne Martin of Suffolk. Color prints of Martin’s painting, done specifically for this show, will be given out both days. Guests at the Preview Night will receive a signed and numbered print, said Bruce. The show print is sponsored by W. F. Booth and Son, Inc., of Kilmarnock.

The weekend door prize is an original carving by Jeff Fitzhugh of Hurlock, Md. The Preview Night door prize is an original painting by Mary Lou Troutman of Dameron, Md.

A paint-a-decoy for ages 6-16, sponsored by the Virginia Waterfowler’s Association, will be held on Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20.

One popular feature is a raffle with all items donated by the exhibitors. Lunch is available for purchase on Saturday and Sunday, with a special eating area.

Show hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 and is good for both days, children younger than age 12 will be admitted at no charge.

Additional sponsors include W.E. Kellum Seafood Inc., Rappahannock Rentals, Currie Funeral Home and Willaby’s.

Proceeds from the Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show benefit the operations of the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department.
