Native Plant Sale set September 12-13 at Good Luck Cellars

LANCASTER—The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will hold its annual Native Plant Sale September 12 and 13 at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

“This time of year is the perfect time to add native plants to your property and over the winter these plants will get well established, turn your property into a stunning sanctuary for both humans and pollinators,” said secretary Kevin Howe.

Sale hours will be noon-3 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 p.m. Sunday.

Knowledgeable members and landscape designers will answer native plant questions—right plant, right place, said Howe. Members of the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Master Gardeners Shoreline Evaluation Program will be on-site to answer shoreline questions using native plants.

The chapter also have the latest edition of “Native Plants of the Northern Neck” and other education materials available for the public—all free publications—including deer-resistant plants, salt-tolerant plants and garden design templates.

New features will include Pollinator Mini-Kits, Groundcover Sampler Kits and many flats of grasses and sedges for those that want to “cover” some ground with beautiful and ecologically sound plants.

A pre-sale event will be held for members from 2:30-4:30 p.m. September 11. To join the chapter, visit vnps.org/select-membership-type/ and specify the Northern Neck Chapter, or sign up Friday at the sale.
