Deltaville Maritime Park-Holly Point Nature Park reshuffles concert schedule

by Don Richeson

Deltaville’s popular “Groovin’ in the Park” summer concert series has been delayed due to COVID-19 concerns, but a partial new schedule was recently announced. The concerts are on selected Saturday evenings through September. They are outdoors on the grounds of the Deltaville Maritime Museum at 287 Jackson Creek Road, which is off General Puller Highway (Route 33), the main road through Deltaville. The museum is near Jackson Creek, at a 30-acre site called Holly Point Nature Park. Most of the concerts feature two bands and each band plays about an hour on a newly revamped stage in Holly Point Nature Park.

Bands rescheduled to participate are listed below, with the opening band listed first and the closing band listed second. Bands for additional concerts will be announced later. Rescheduled concerts include:

  • 5-8 p.m. Aug. 1 — Honeywind Bluegrass Boys and Good Shot Judy.
  • 5-8 p.m. Aug. 22 — Flat-Tones and Stuck on a Name.
  • 5-8 p.m. Sept. 5 — Bonus Groovin’ and Toby Gillie and Josh Walker Quartet with Sharon Rae North.
  • 6-8 p.m. Sept. 26 — Tom Euler Band.

Tickets are $10, $15 or $20, depending on the concert and whether you purchase them in advance. Proceeds go to support the series, as well as the museum and park, which are all nonprofit entities. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.

For information, visit www.deltavillemuseum.com or call 804-776-7200.

All concerts are contingent on the predicted phase three loosening of COVID-19 restrictions. They will be restricted to half capacity, which is about 400 people, and those attending are expected to use social distancing.
