Gardening in the Northern Neck registration to open February 1

The 29th annual Gardening in the Northern Neck Seminar will be held April 13 at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

Mary Palmer Dargan, chief executive officer of Dargan Landscape Architects Inc., is one of the featured speakers at the seminar hosted by the Northern Neck Master Gardeners, reported Almeda McKenney of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Northumberland County office. The seminar theme is “Creating Outdoor Spaces” and Dargan’s topic is “Couture Garden Design – May Your Landscape Fit Your Lifestyle Like a Glove.”

Dargan, with her husband and partner Hugh Dargan, specializes in creating “utopias,” or energized, nourishing stress-free living environments that allow seamless flow between interior and exterior spaces.  Their goal is to design places for people to flourish in their home environment., she said.

Dargen has authored several books including Timeless Landscape Design: The Four Part Master Plan, and has been featured in many publications including Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful, and Garden and Gun. She has taught landscape courses at Clemson University, University of South Carolina and College of Charleston and has won numerous awards for her innovative landscape design approach.

Registration for the Gardening in the Northern Neck will be available on February 1 at www.nnmg.org. The fee is $50. Lunches will be available for an additional fee.
