Tavern Quilt Guild members hold some of the Bingo for Quilts prizes.

NORTHUMBERLAND—The Heathsville Farmers Market on Saturday, August 16, will feature a Classic and Antique Car Show, followed by Bingo for Quilts.

The market will offer Northern Neck produce, meat, honey, bread, baked goods, gourmet peanuts, roasted coffee, and artisan handcrafts. Over 60 vendors have registered to participate, reported RHHT director Corinne Becker. The Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville; the car show will end at 11 a.m.

As part of the car show, members of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Northern Neck Corvette Club will display their vehicles. Private individuals are also welcome. The public will vote for their favorite and the winner will receive the Tavern’s “People’s Choice Chocolate Chip Cookie Award.”

Inside the Tavern, the Heritage Arts Center will be open for business. Shoppers will find artists working in their studios and locally-made artisan wares for sale. The Tavern Cafe´ will serve light luncheon fare made by the Tavern volunteers. A food concession stand will be found at the Tavern Meeting Building.

Dating from the late 1700s, Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern is home to spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, woodworking and quilting guilds, which will be on-site demonstrating and selling their wares.

At 1:30 p.m., the Tavern Quilt Guild will hold its annual Bingo for Quilts in the Tavern Meeting Building. Players may buy packets of 15 bingo sheets plus four special games for $30. Prizes are quilted items made by guild members.
