The Middlesex County Woman’s Club (MCWC) will host Dr. James Robusto for a presentation titled “Days in Middlesex County Court with James Mills” on Monday, Jan. 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the MCWC clubhouse, 210 Virginia St. in Urbanna.
From 1748 until 1852, the current MCWC building served as the county courthouse.
James Mills lived in Urbanna, operated the Scottish Factor Store (now the Urbanna Museum and Visitor’s Center), and served as a justice of the peace for the years 1763-1776. Research records provide a detailed view of court proceedings and a glimpse of daily life in Middlesex County during this time.
Dr. Robusto will highlight Mills’ participation and impact in Middlesex County Court. All are welcome.
