Distinctive Bazaar will open May 4

LANCASTER—For 26 years Irvington United Methodist Church has held its Distinctive Bazaar on the first Saturday in October, November and December, but changes are in store for 2024.

Dates for the 27th annual Distinctive Bazaar will be May 4 and October 5, reported Audrey Lowery. The dates will coincide with the Irvington Farmers Market.

On May 4 the hours will be 9 a.m.-1p.m. The sale will feature an inside bakery booth filled with homemade baked goods. Come early to make the best choice in the bakery booth, said Lowery.

“Everyone loves a good yard sale so we also plan on having one inside in the fellowship hall,” she said. Sale items will include garden tools, some furniture, kitchen items and rugs.

Once inside the building, shoppers will find a selection of quality gift items, including nautical wreaths, oyster shell trees, oyster shell art pieces, oyster shell napkin rings, lighthouse trees, hostess gift items and nautical gift baskets.

Seasonal items will include birdhouses, a hummingbird wooded feeder and nesting balls for the birds. These gift items make nice hostess gifts when one is invited to a spring or summer gathering. They can be given as a way to say thank you to the hostess.

Shoppers will pay Cynthia Bishop or Frances Lee for the baked goods and Lowery for the yard sale and gift items, at the checkout booth.

This event is a fund raiser for a $1,000 scholarship to a Lancaster High School senior, the Kilmarnock Food Bank and the Northern Neck – Middlesex County Free Health Clinic. Donations will be accepted at the door upon entering or leaving.

The Distinctive Bazaar accepts cash or check for purchases and not credit cards, said Lowery.
