Discounted admission ends August 17 for Irvington Crab Festival

LANCASTER – The Steamboat Era Museum is getting ready to celebrate the 12th annual Irvington Crab Festival from 4-8 p.m. September 16. The festival is held in the Carousel Physical Therapy tent on the Irvington Town Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

The crab festival is the museum’s largest fundraising event of the year, said executive director Steve Humphrey.

The $60 early crab discounted admission includes all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, barbecue, hot dogs and soft drinks. Crabs will be served starting at 5 p.m. All other food and beverages will be available at 4 p.m. Beer and wine will be available for purchase for $5. Museum manager Candee Pevahouse reminds patrons that admission increases to $75 on August 17.

A raffle for items and gift certificates will be held at the festival. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. Winners must be present. Raffle tickets will be $5 each or five for $20.

Museum president Keith Kehlbeck indicated prizes include tickets to Compass Entertainment Complex, a crab quilt from Sewlovelee, jewelry from Burke’s Fine Jewelers and SS Magpie, four players and golf cart package for the Golden Eagle golf course and gift certificates. The raffle prizes are valued at over $4,000. To donate an item to the raffle, email CrabFestival@SteamboatEraMuseum.org or call the museum, 438-6888.

Time Passages Mobile DJ, Jay Daum from Williamsburg, will keep the Carousel Physical Therapy tent hopping.
