“Bright Futures Fund Run” to benefit Dolly Parton Imagination Library

RICHMOND COUNTY—Northern Neck Electric Cooperative (NNEC) recently announced its second annual Bright Futures Fund Run to raise funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The color run event will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the NNEC Warehouse, 15105 Historyland Highway, Warsaw.

The Bright Futures Fund Run is a family-friendly event that encourages families to get active while supporting a great cause. The course is designed for people of all ages and skill levels. Participants can choose to run, walk, or jog a 1/4-mile, 1/2-mile, or 1-mile course. Proceeds will go directly to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from birth to age 5.

“At last year’s event, we raised enough funds to give books to more than 130 children for an entire year,” said NNEC president and chief executive officer Brad Hicks. “This is testament to the strength of our community, and I am excited to see how it will continue to promote early childhood literacy in our region and improve the quality of life in our communities.”

The event also will feature a touch-a-truck exhibit, where children can explore a variety of vehicles, including NNEC line and bucket trucks and construction equipment. There also will be other family-friendly activities, including bounce houses.

Registration for the Bright Futures Fund Run starts at $7 per child, which provides books for another child in the community for six months. Each participant will receive a small gift and a race medal.

“We hope that our members and their families will come out to support this great cause and have a great time together,” said Hicks. “We look forward to seeing everyone have fun and make an impact in our community.”

Local organizations and community groups may participate by emailing public relations manager Kyle Allwine at kallwine@nnec.coop.
