Brent and Becky’s announces events

Spring is popping up everywhere! Take a moment to grab some sunshine, enjoy the fresh air and stop to smell the flowers at Brent and Becky’s! (Contributed)

The Bulb Shoppe and Gardens at Brent and Becky’s are open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Dec. 19. They are closed for holidays on Monday, May 25; Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4; Monday, Sept. 7; and Thursday, Nov. 26.  They are located at 7900 Daffodil Lane in Gloucester.

Mat Pilates with Valerie, Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.Mat Pilates is a total body conditioning exercise method combining flexibility and strength, using the weight of the body with control. The benefits are improved balance, posture and overall core strength. Bring a mat and enjoy the causal setting. The 45- to 60-minute class is taught by Valerie Morgan, a well trained and certified group exercise and personal trainer for more than 42 years, 32 of those years spent as a manager at a local wellness center. The cost is $10 per person, advance registration required.

Spring garden tours, 1-3 p.m., Wednesday, April 1; Saturday, April 4; Wednesday, April 8; Saturday, April 11; and Wednesday, April 15Take a leisurely stroll through the trial fields and gardens at the farm and home of Brent and Becky Heath. See spring flowering bulbs during peak blooming time, different planting combinations incorporating trees, shrubs, bulbs and perennials, plus a little history of the land you will be touring. Walking shoes recommended and will be on gravel, dirt, and grass. Wheelchairs are not recommended or children under the age of 7. Reservations required, $10 per person. Sign up online or give them a call to register.

Gloucester Daffodil Festival, Daffodil Show and Garden Tours, Saturday and Sunday, March 28 and 29Come to Brent and Becky’s during the Gloucester Daffodil Festival and Daffodil Show, just a few miles away in Gloucester Courthouse! The festival, which is fun for all ages, offers a chance to immerse yourself in springtime beauty. Be sure to visit Brent and Becky’s while you’re in town, as they’ll be open for the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. On March 28 and 29, the Gloucester Master Gardeners will lead exclusive garden and facility tours at Brent and Becky’s, including access to Brent’s private gardens. These tours are just $10 per person, and tickets are available at The Bulb Shoppe or online at www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com. For details about the Daffodil Festival and Daffodil Show, visit www.daffodilfestivalva.org.

Master Gardeners Present, Nightshade Family, Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m.Everyone is invited to join the Gloucester Master Gardeners for an informational session packed with great advice! This event is free and open to the public; no registration required.

 • Historic Garden Week Celebration, Saturday, April 18Celebrate spring during the Gloucester-Mathews Historic Garden Tour at Brent and Becky’s. The Gloucester Master Gardeners will be giving tours of our gardens throughout the day. Come join the fun!
