Bay School in Mathews to celebrate children’s creations with ice cream on August 16

MATHEWS––The Bay School in Mathews invites the public to celebrate the end of summer 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 with a delicious bowl of ice cream, while attendees admire the creative work of the children who participated in the 2025 Summer Art Camps. Meet these young artists and their teachers during the gallery reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., then step outside onto The Bay School patio and purchase a handmade ice cream bowl from the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild and fill it with your favorite ice cream and toppings. Bowls are $15 each and come in a wide array of styles and colors.

Attendees also will have the opportunity to indulge their own creativity by participating in various art activities. An Artist’s Journey: The Bay School’s Annual Student Art Show Art Speaks Gallery will showcase the work of Bay School students in its annual student art show, An Artists’ Journey,  through Aug. 25. Artists participating in the show will be exhibiting work either created during class or that was inspired by techniques and ideas developed while taking a class at The Bay School.
