Riverwalk Landing to host Blues, Brews and BBQ, Art at the River show

Historic Yorktown will host back-to-back popular events the weekend of May 6-7 at Riverwalk Landing — Blues, Brews and BBQ and the Art at the River Juried Art Show.

Tickets are on sale now at www.villageevents.org for the Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival on Saturday, May 6. From noon to 6 p.m., attendees can sample dozens of craft beers, enjoy some barbecue (available for purchase) and listen as some of the area’s best blues musicians take the waterfront Riverwalk Landing stage. The performing bands include the HM Johnson Band at 12:30 p.m. and The Jason Cale Band at 3:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand this year is the Wine Tent, offering tastings included with admission. Tickets are $40 now and at the door if available. This event is not recommended for children or pets. A limited number of non-drinking tickets are available for $15.

Art at the River

Marvel at the handiwork of more than 40 local artists at this 10th annual Juried Art Show from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Painters, photographers, potters, jewelers and other creative artists will line the Riverwalk to display their work with hopes of taking home the People’s Choice Award.

The Fifes and Drums of Yorktown open the show at 10 a.m., followed by Audio Portrait from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event is presented by the Art at the River Committee in conjunction with York County and the Yorktown Foundation, with support from the Williamsburg Area and York County Arts Commissions.

Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace. Visitors may also park at York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building and other designated public parking lots. The free Yorktown Trolley runs from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
