NORTHUMBERLAND—The Northumberland County Historical Society (NCHS) on April 19 will host Tales by a Country Doctor with Dr. W. Emory Lewis.

The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Ball Memorial Library and Museum, 86 Back Street, Heathsville.
Dr. Lewis of Reedville is a retired local physician. He will share stories from about 40 years in practice. Dr. Lewis is respected for his distinguished medical career and is well known for his talents as a historian and storyteller, reported publications chairman Richard W. Covington. Light refreshments will follow the presentation.
The 2025 edition of the Bulletin of the Northumberland County Historical Society has arrived and will be mailed soon, said Covington. NCHS is now self-publishing with Lulu Press, which enables NCHS to sell its publications online through Lulu Bookstore. The 2025 Bulletin and Index No.3, are now available at www.lulu.com/shop; type in Northumebrland County.
Eventually, all 62 volumes of The Bulletin, all three Index volumes and other publications will be available online, he said. Publications also will be available for purchase at the at the Heathsville office.
