Deltaville 5K, Kids Fun Run return July 5

MIDDLESEX––The 14th running of the annual Deltaville Kids Fun Run and Deltaville 5K are slated for Saturday, July 5, starting at the Deltaville Community Association (DCA) building at 17147 General Puller Highway in Deltaville. The event begins early to beat the heat, with the Fun Run starting at 7:15 a.m. and the 5K following at 7:30 a.m.

The Kids Fun Run is for children ages 12 and younger, and the 5K  (3.1 mile foot race) is open for all ages. The 5K course is flat and fast and includes a turnaround on the state dock over the creek. There are men’s and women’s awards for every 5-year age bracket and overall place awards. Registration for both events includes a finisher’s medal and T-shirt. This year’s shirt features a timeless design celebrating the Blue Crab.

Online registration is open until July 4 at www.DVL5k.com.  Registration is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the Kids Fun Run through June 30. After that, prices increase to $40 and $30. Walk-up registration is available at packet pick-up on Friday, July 4, from 4-6 p.m. at the DCA building and on Race Day from 6-7 a.m.

Middlesex Family YMCA will provide childcare during the 5K. Christ Church Parish in Christchurch will be on site selling breakfast items.

This year, community events include the Blue Crab Arts and Crafts Festival at the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club, beginning at 10 a.m., and baseball at the Deltaville Ballpark at 6 p.m. Rounding out the day is a fireworks event at the Deltaville Ballpark following the ballgame at 9 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the Deltaville Community Association.
