Take a seat at The Table

by Madison White Franks

In 2015, a charming new restaurant opened in Deltaville.

Take a seat at The Table

The Table will awaken your senses with a warm atmosphere and great food.

Owner, Chef Helen Elizabeth Ward of Hartfield cooks homemade family recipes passed down from multiple generations.

Located at 16273 General Puller Highway Unit A-4 in the Riverside Center North shopping center, The Table is an adjunct of The Table at Wilton catering business. The Table serves as an opportunity for Ward to share her passion with the public, she said.

On a recent rainy Saturday afternoon, my husband, Taylor and I went to The Table to enjoy a late lunch/early dinner.

We frequently order takeout there because we love their Lover’s Lane burger and fries with chipotle aioli dipping sauce. We even have taken advantage of their Saturday-only pancake day on multiple occasions and have yet to be disappointed. It’s also a popular lunch spot on Wednesdays for a church friend and myself. I have tried their amazing shrimp Caesar salad and the avocado turkey panini and like everything else I’ve tried, both are good. Whenever I go into The Table, it is always welcoming. Rustic, chic and with a pinch of elegance, this restaurant offers exceptional food and atmosphere that is prepared for a fivestar dining experience. You can tell the staff genuinely care about what they are serving.

Our waiter, Adam, informed us of the lunch specials and we both chose something from the “special” menu.

I decided on the grilled chicken taco bowl which included black beans, salsa and guacamole in a homemade taco bowl. It was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of seasoning on the chicken. To top my dinner off, I had a glass of rose wine. Taylor ordered the “Big Bird,” a double chicken breast served on a biscuit topped with hot peppers, pickles, spicy dijon mustard and pepper jack cheese. He said the sandwich was very good and filling. He also couldn’t resist the fries with a slightly spicy chipotle aioli dipping sauce.

They offer beer, wine and a variety of bottled and canned drinks.

It was nearing actual dinner time and people with reservations were beginning to flow in and that night, they were booked.

Taylor and I were both full, but made some room for homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies. I have always been a fan of those little pies. But these were bigger and just plain delicious.

The Table offers a variety of baked goods in their bakery case and they have the biggest, most scrumptious, chocolate chip cookies you will find. I rarely pass up an opportunity to get one.

They offer breakfast all day and many deli selections such as egg and potato salad, quinoa and orzo pasta.

Make the trip to Deltaville to try Helen’s delicious recipes, you may even run into this Deltaville native!
